The benefit of traveling overseas.
The benefit of traveling overseas from a developing country like Nigeria to seek greener pastures, can never be overemphasized due to the current harsh economic condition in the country. Don’t ever let anybody fool or discourage you from going abroad for a greener pasture.
The question has always been who will build this country if everybody travels overseas? Everybody cannot go overseas that’s not possible, the ones that are willing to go should not be discouraged. A graduate who has no job for over 10 years after graduation is not a nation builder until he’s fully employed to take responsibilities.
A school certificate holder who travels oversea doing menial jobs and is earning over a thousand dollars a month and he’s sending home the money to build a house or invest in a business is more or less a nation builder than unemployed graduate.
My dear live the question of nation building to those who are ready to answer the question, so many people have been called several times to come and serve their country from overseas because they have something to offer, it’s better to go abroad and have something to offer that to remain jobless in your own country trying to build a nation without job, the choice is yours.
I know many people will not agree with me, but I have my reasons for writing this post if you live abroad and have a job that’s paying you two thousand dollars per month that is equivalent to a million Naira, depending on the current exchange rate, now tell me how many graduates are earning such amount of money in this country apart from the oil firms and few others.
Benefit of travelling overseas is invaluable, let me share with you my personal experience I was in 300 levels at Lagos state university (LASU) when my younger one travel abroad to study, he got there started and finish both his O levels and master degree courses; here I am still waiting to get my O level result from LASU because of unnecessary strikes and delay which were never my fault.
The Benefit of traveling overseas are as follows:
- Travel Enhances Your Creativity
The benefit of traveling oversea increase both cognitive capacity and creativity, the ability to make deep connections between disparate forms, ”explains Adam Galinsky, a professor at Columbia Business School who has authored a number of studies that investigate the concrete links between creativity and international travel. Travel alone isn’t enough, however. Galinsky has found that international travelers have to be purposeful about engaging.
- Travel Boosts Happiness and Satisfaction
The joy you experience when given a visa alone is something you can’t forget in a lifetime, Most people tend to be happier when they’re traveling and don’t have to worry about anything, of course. However, one of the more interesting take away from a Cornell University study is that people also experience a direct increase in happiness from just planning to travel.
- Travel Lowers the Risk of Depression
While people tend to avoid the subject in our society, depression is, unfortunately, a major problem. Millions of Africans struggle with depression on a regular basis and it’s not uncommon for doctors to overprescribe medication for depression. Did you know a lot of people have committed suicide since the beginning of the recession in Nigeria? That’s a confirmed fact, not exaggerations.
Luckily, healthier alternatives are available for escaping the hopelessness of a depressed state. According to research, travel may be one of them.
Travelling kicks you out of the comfort zone and forces you — for better or worse — to try new things!
The benefit of traveling overseas will make you Become a well-rounded individual enhances self-confidence and will help you find new material for conversation in social settings with a wider variety of people.
- You will learn without even trying.
Ask people who have travel overseas, they will tell you by seeing things alone in their environment they have learned a lot which they could never have imagined in their lifetime. Have you noticed how hard it is to memorize some dry facts from a book about a certain place/museum/famous building, and how easy it is for the same facts to get stuck in your memory when you learn them on the spot? It is easier to learn when you can make connections to your own experience and that is what traveling does.
- You will grow and become a better you.
The standard of living and education in developing world can never be compared to developed countries; I don’t need fact and figured to tell you that. I left this reason on purpose, for it is the deepest of them all, and describes a change that unfolds over time spent traveling to more and more places. The more you see and experience, the more you realize how big the world is and how much it has to offer, you start to focus on what matters and stop being disappointed by past failures here at home. You begin to look on the bright side of things and cease taking yourself and life too seriously. This is probably the best thing traveling and living abroad will do for you.
- You will break out of your shell
If you’re limited to a particular environment it’s very difficult to discover yourself, Foremost on the reasons to travel is that you discover a lot about yourself. That is why traveling is known to provide people with a whole new perspective, whether that means no longer sweating the small stuff or promising to get out there and meet new people upon returning home. Those who have left their comfort zone and headed for a foreign land have done the right thing; there is nothing like a trip to make you a new man who has no choice but to fend for himself. Whether alone, with a partner, or in a group, your development surely speeds up when you’re abroad.
- You will embrace new cultures
Not only does traveling provide a sense of adventure, but it also opens doors to cultures that do not revolve around your environment. Better yet, you will become appreciative of other cultures; instead of instinctively criticizing that which is “different,” you will be motivated to accept new cuisine or alternative forms of entertainment.
- You will enjoy life like never before
The standard of living in this country is dropping every day, now people don’t even think about enjoying life; all they are concerned with is daily survival. Even for those of you who are not as culturally minded, traveling remains an appealing form of escape. Simply the attractions of the activities that are impossible to enjoy in your hometown make a trip worthwhile.
- You will gain an invaluable experience
The level of experience you gain if you travel overseas is invaluable, though it may not be obvious while you’re sitting at home, the knowledge acquired from traveling is invaluable. You’ll be enriched on many levels, and maybe you’ll even meet that special someone that will change your life forever.
The benefit of traveling overseas are endless the most important thing, however, is to keep an open mind. Traveling is a luxury, so make the most of it.
“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page”. I rest my case.
